During MLK Jr. weekend, many Missouri Mid-South members made the trip to Memphis to participate in a national interfaith gathering filled with music and a message of hope. While many MMSC members gathered in person, including our very own transitional conference minister, Rev. Mary Nelson, those unable to travel to Memphis were also able to join online for this national worship service. Brought together by UCC General Minister and President Rev. Karen Thompson, more than twenty leaders addressed the congregation, voicing their thoughts on how to maintain hope in the face of injustice. Between speakers, the church was led in praise and worship by Yara Allen, director of theomusicology and cultural arts for Repairers of the Breach, alongside the North Carolina Freedom Singers.
