Christmas in July

Outdoor Ministries Campaign

This July, the Missouri Mid-South Conference is celebrating Christmas in July with a special opportunity to support our Outdoor Ministries. Camp MoVal and Shannondale have identified important projects that will strengthen ministry, improve facilities, and enhance the experience for everyone who visits.

Every ornament on our Tree of Wishes represents a gift toward one of these projects. Choose an ornament at a giving level that is meaningful to you, from $50 to $5,000, and help provide essential equipment for Camp MoVal, including a new brush cutter, an ice machine, and air conditioning units for the Craft Room and Nurse Station, or invest in the electrical system upgrade at Shannondale. Every ornament moves us one step closer to completing these important improvements.

Every gift matters. Every ornament makes a difference. Every act of generosity helps strengthen our Outdoor Ministries for years to come.

Creating a place where all people are welcomed, included, and able to participate fully.

For generations, Shannondale has been a place where people gather for worship, fellowship, retreats, and community. As we look toward the future, we want to ensure that everyone who comes through the doors feels welcomed and has the opportunity to fully experience this ministry.

These important projects will improve accessibility, safety, and the long-term care of Shannondale’s facilities. From safer entrances and improved pathways to critical building upgrades that protect guests and preserve this historic space, each project helps create an environment where people of all ages and abilities can gather comfortably.

Every project is made possible through many generous hearts. Rather than funding an entire project on your own, you can choose a symbolic ornament at a giving level that is meaningful to you. Every contribution, large or small, combines with others to help complete these much-needed improvements.

Why it matters:
Accessibility is more than removing barriers. It is about creating spaces where everyone knows they belong. Your support helps ensure Shannondale remains a place where people can gather, connect, worship, and experience community for generations to come.

Powering the Future of Ministry

Help protect a historic building and prepare it for generations of ministry.

The Shannondale Church Campus electrical system needs an important upgrade. Replacing outdated wiring and improving electrical capacity will help protect the building, improve safety, and allow the space to support modern ministry needs.

🎁 Your gift helps provide:

  • Updated electrical wiring
  • New panels and breakers
  • Safe, reliable power
  • Support for lighting, technology, and future ministry

Goal: $30,000

✨ This project is about more than electricity. It is about protecting a sacred space where ministry continues to happen.

Missouri Mid-South Conference breathes new life into 87-year-old ministry - United Church of Christ

Camp MoVal is a place where campers, churches, and retreat groups come together to grow in faith, build relationships, and experience God’s creation. To continue providing safe, comfortable, and well-equipped facilities, we’re focusing on a few essential improvements that will have a lasting impact on camp life.

This year’s wish list includes a new brush cutter to help care for the grounds, an ice machine to better serve campers and guests during the busy summer season, and two new air conditioning units, one for the Craft Room and one for the Nurse Station, to provide comfortable, safe spaces for activities and camper care.

Why it matters:
These may seem like everyday items, but they play an important role in the camp experience. Well-maintained grounds create a welcoming environment, reliable ice service supports meals and health needs, and air-conditioned spaces provide comfort for creative programming and essential medical care. Together, these improvements help Camp MoVal continue to offer a safe, welcoming, and memorable experience for every guest.

Every gift helps provide these much-needed improvements, ensuring Camp MoVal remains a place where faith is nurtured, lives are transformed, and community is built for years to come.

Help care for the trails and natural beauty of Camp MoVal.

A brush cutter is an essential tool for maintaining trails, clearing overgrown areas, and keeping outdoor spaces safe and accessible. From campsites to hiking paths, this equipment helps ensure guests can fully enjoy the beauty of God’s creation.

Why it matters:
Well-maintained grounds and trails create a safer, more welcoming environment for campers, retreat guests, and volunteers while protecting the natural spaces that make Camp MoVal so special.

Goal: $5,000

Help keep campers and guests cool, safe, and refreshed.

Whether serving meals, filling water coolers, or responding to medical needs, a dependable ice machine is an important part of daily camp operations. During Missouri summers, access to ice helps keep everyone comfortable and healthy.

Why it matters:
A new ice machine supports hospitality, meal service, and camper safety, ensuring Camp MoVal is prepared to care for every guest throughout the summer and beyond.

Goal: $3,000

Provide comfort where care matters most.

The Nurse Station is an essential part of camp, providing care and comfort when campers or staff become ill or injured. A new air conditioning unit will create a cooler, healthier environment for those receiving care and for the volunteers and medical professionals serving them.

Why it matters:
When someone isn’t feeling their best, a cool and comfortable space can make all the difference. This upgrade helps ensure Camp MoVal is prepared to care for every camper with compassion and dignity.

Goal: $500

Keep creativity flowing, even on the hottest days.

The Craft Room is a favorite gathering place where campers express their creativity, learn new skills, and build friendships. A new air conditioning unit will provide a cool, comfortable space for campers and volunteers to enjoy activities throughout the summer.

Why it matters:
A comfortable environment allows campers to focus on creating memories instead of escaping the heat.
