Speaker Series: “Bletchley Park; the Home of WW II’s Codebreakers,” by Parks Smith, Parkway UCC, Town & Country

Bletchley Park, in England, was the top-secret home of the World War II “Codebreakers.” a term for the over 9,000 men and women who intercepted and cracked German war messages. Winston Churchill referred to the Bletchley staff as “the geese who laid the golden eggs and never cackled”
Our speaker, an historian, will explore Bletchley Park’s history from 1939 to 1946, sharing stories of those who worked there and detailing how German messages were captured and decoded during the Battle of the Atlantic. This included breaking the Enigma and Lorenz codes and developing the Colossus computer. |
