Seeking volunteers to work from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday Memorial Day weekend through mid-October. As a fair-trade store, the purpose is to help local artisans sell unique crafts to the public with them earning supplemental income from whatever they charge for their items.
Duties include:
Because a typical sales day sees two to eight groups of customers, only one person is needed per day but couples or friends can volunteer together. During downtime, volunteers may bring a good book to read, enjoy watching the hummingbirds and other wildlife, or browse the internet on available free Wi-Fi.
Please note: The store is not climate controlled, however, volunteers can access the climate-controlled Nature Center next door. Also, there are a few steps to navigate, and the store flooring is made of wood chips.
After the 3 p.m. store closing, volunteers have time daily to explore the beautiful Ozark area, including Echo Bluff State Park, Akers Ferry, Round Springs, Alley Springs Mill and Park, Devil’s Well, Rocky Falls, Current River State Park, and the small towns of Salem and Eminence, Mo. All are close enough for day visits.
Volunteers have free lodging nearby across the road in a newly renovated, climate-controlled Pinecone Cottage cabin with bedding and towels provided, or can opt to use a free onsite campsite with water and electric hookups included.
