The Missouri Mid-South Conference Board of Directors at its regular July 2023 meeting approved extending its contract with Transitional Conference Minister Rev. Mary W. Nelson through December 2025. The Board wanted to provide continuity of leadership in the Conference as we prepare to host General Synod in 2025, and to ensure that the Conference’s discernment process can proceed free of pressure from our hosting responsibilities.
“This is very exciting to be here through General Synod, and prepare to co-host with the Kansas-Oklahoma Conference,” says Rev. Nelson. “I am looking forward to working with our staff team and so many great volunteers to provide a bit more of a long-term transition. We can all continue to work together strengthening the Conference.”
The Board also gave approval to the Personnel Committee to establish a Conference Minister Search Committee. Following the guidelines of the Missouri Mid-South Conference bylaws, this search committee will consist of nine individuals (three representatives from each of the three Associations) and work with consultant Rev. Lee Albertson, who presented at CAG 2022 as UCC Conference Minister Search Coordinator about best practices when searching for a Conference Minister.
